1843 - An English college student, John Couch Adams, sets out to findthe location of the unknown planet pulling on Uranus. Instead of studying the sky, he uses mathematics to determine where the planet might be. He finally calculates the planet's position. A French astronomer, Urbain Jean Joseph Leverrier, has made similar calculations. Years later Neptune is discovered in the predicated location.
